TORONTO — Kiiwetinnoong MPP Sol Mamakwa addressed Queen’s Park in his language of Anishininiimowin on Monday, the first day of National Indigenous History Month.
It is the second speech ever made in an Indigenous language to the Ontario Legislative Assembly, the first was also made by Mamakwa on May 28, 2024.
“It is time to reflect and remember the unique history of Indigenous peoples. Our history is one rich in culture, teachings, from our ancestors on how to honour the lands and the waters that have been placed in our care” he said.
