Edmontonians encouraged to take one action a week during National Indigenous History Month

Press Release

June 4, 2026

June is National Indigenous History Month, a time to honour the histories, cultures, languages, resilience and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.

Throughout June, the City of Edmonton encourages residents to take one meaningful action each week to learn, reflect and build stronger relationships with Indigenous Peoples and communities.

Across Edmonton, Indigenous organizations, partners and community members are creating opportunities for residents to listen, learn and participate in Indigenous cultural events. The City supports this work by sharing community events, as well as learning opportunities and resources that help residents connect with Indigenous histories, cultures, languages, arts and relationships.
