Yukon government and Yukon First Nations leaders bring joint agenda to Ottawa

Press Release

June 8, 2026

Leaders from the Yukon are travelling to Ottawa this week to advocate for the territory’s priorities with the federal government.

Yukon First Nations Chiefs, Council of Yukon First Nations Grand Chief Math’ieya Alatini and Premier Currie Dixon will present a united front focused on advancing top priorities for the territory.

During Yukon Days, leaders will advocate for federal investment and work together to ensure federal programs meet the territory’s unique northern realities and deliver practical, long-term benefits for Yukoners.

Yukon Days provides a key platform for trilateral engagement between Yukon First Nations, territorial and federal governments, supporting alignment on shared priorities and strengthening partnerships across the Yukon.

Yukon Days is an important opportunity for Yukon First Nations to engage directly with federal decision-makers and advance the priorities of our communities. By standing alongside the Government of Yukon, we are demonstrating the strength of our partnerships and our shared commitment to building a prosperous future for all Yukoners. We will continue to advocate for investments, policies and programs that reflect the unique realities of the North, uphold Yukon First Nations Self-Government Agreements and create lasting benefits for our citizens and future generations.

Grand Chief Math’ieya Alatini Council of Yukon First Nations

We are committed to advocating clearly for the interests of Yukoners, securing federal investments and policy decisions that strengthen the Yukon and raising the Yukon’s significant energy needs as our top priority with Ottawa. By partnering with First Nations through joint engagement at Yukon Days, we present a united, influential voice that reflects the territory’s unique northern challenges. This strengthens our ability to deliver practical, community-focused investments across the Yukon and I am confident Canada is ready to work with us to achieve meaningful progress on our priorities.
