Dozens from Mattagami First Nation return home now that nearby forest fire is under control – CBC

Fire was first reported May 31, leading to evacuation starting on June 2

People from Mattagami First Nation residents are returning home on Monday.

More than 160 residents were forced out by a forest fire near the community, and north of the village of Gogama, starting on June 3.

It burned out of control about seven kilometres from the community, covering more than 3,300 hectares.
