From: Nova Scotia RCMP

Victoria County District RCMP has charged a man with multiple offences after responding to a weapons complaint in Tarbotvale.

On June 21, at approximately 7:35 p.m., officers responded to a report of a man believed to be in possession of firearms outside a residence on Tarbotvale Rd. Responding officers learned the man had just left the home in a Dodge pickup truck; he was the sole occupant.

With assistance of RCMP Northeast Traffic Services – Cape Breton and an RCMP Remotely Piloted Aircraft System, officers immediately began searching for the truck.

At approximately 9 p.m., officers located the vehicle near Organ Rd. and activated their emergency equipment to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle didn’t stop and continued onto West Tarbotvale Rd. After pursuing the truck briefly, the officer slowed and deactivated their emergency equipment in consideration of public safety.

Officers then learned the suspect abandoned the truck on West Tarbotvale Rd. and was picked up by a person known to him. A short time later, officers located the suspect on Tarbotvale Rd. and safely arrested him. No firearms were located at the time of his arrest.

Through the continuing investigation, officers learned the suspect had threatened a woman known to him in late 2025. Kevin Michael MacEachern, 39, of Goose Cove, has been charged with Uttering Threats in relation to that incident, in addition to Careless Use of Firearm, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Flight from Peace Officer, and Theft for the incidents on June 21.

MacEachern is scheduled to appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court today, June 24.

Anyone with information about these incidents, who hasn’t already spoken to police, is asked to call Victoria County District RCMP at 902-295-2350.
