June 4, 2026

Bawaajigewin is kicking off National Indigenous History Month with a free cultural celebration, vendors market and lunch in Oshawa.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 6 at Bawaajigewin’s permanent space at 863 Glen St. You can enjoy live music and dance, a range of local vendors and community services and a free lunch.

Bawaajigewin president Susan Byrne said the event is open and welcoming to the whole community. The first event of this kind that they hosted three years ago attracted 150 people — the following year attracted 100 more. They hope to continue the upward trend this weekend.
