Regina Mayor Michael Fougere has released the agenda and speaker list for the 2014 Mayor’s Housing Summit, being held in Regina on October 21.
“We have assembled a strong group of presenters for this event that will help us build on last year’s discussion,” said Mayor Fougere. “I’m confident the ideas and experience they have to share will help vault us into a lively and productive discussion.”
Featured presentations include:
• Social and Economic Update for Saskatchewan and Regina – Housing in the Thick of It
o Diana MacKay, Executive Director, Education, Skills, and Immigration, Saskatchewan Institute/Conference Board of Canada
• Fredericton’s Affordable Housing Committee – Successes and Lessons Learned
o Councillor Mike O’Brien, City of Fredericton
• The Role of the City – Redevelopment of Former School Sites in Edmonton
o Tim McCargar, Director, Strategic Planning, Corporate Properties, City of Edmonton
• Vancouver Native Housing Society – Housing, Partnerships and Social Enterprise
o David Eddy, Executive Director, Vancouver Native Housing Society
City of Regina staff will also provide an update on the City’s Housing Strategy.
The Summit will also include facilitated sessions conducted by Praxis Research Strategy. The aim of those sessions will be to identify housing issues and potential solutions to alight with Regina’s Housing Strategy.
To ensure all voices are heard during the Summit, approved non-profit housing organizations are being granted free registration.
