Application processing times for FANS funding

Press Release

30 October 2023

Did you know that it usually takes six to eight weeks for the Financial Assistance for Nunavut Students (FANS) office to process applications for funding?

To avoid funding delays, the FANS office suggests submitting your application two months before the start of your academic program.

Things to keep in mind:

  • Processing may take longer than 6-8 weeks if applications or documents are incomplete.
  • Complete applications are processed in the order received by the FANS office.
  • Submit your application even if waiting for transcripts or acceptance letters; send those as soon as they are available.

A complete application package contains:

  • FANS application.
  • School transcript(s).
  • Letter of acceptance from the post-secondary school.

If the FANS office does not receive all of the above, delays in processing your application may occur. Such delays could result in not receiving funding on time for the start of your program.

The FANS application deadline for programs starting in the winter is November 15, 2023. For a copy of the FANS application and to see important deadlines visit the FANS webpage.
