Press Release –
The 2014 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) taking place in Regina, Saskatchewan from July 20 – 27, brings together thousands of Indigenous athletes, coaches and officials from across Canada and the U.S. This year’s event – themed “Raising the Bar” – aims to celebrate and share North American Indigenous cultures through a showcase of unity, sport, culture, youth and team work.
Many of the athletes competing at the 2014 North American Indigenous Games come from Indigenous communities that ATCO has partnered with over the years such as the Haisla, George Gordon, Kawacatoose, Fort McKay and Woodland Cree making the event a natural fit for ATCO to support.
“ATCO has a long history of both supporting major sporting events such as the Olympics, Canada Games and the Arctic Winter Games and building meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities and businesses,” says Carson Ackroyd, Vice President, Marketing & Communications. “These Games allow us to demonstrate our support for both of these commitments.”
As part of the sponsorship, ATCO provided modular units that will serve as offices for NAIG Administration, as well as the podium that the athletes will stand on to receive their medals.
ATCO wishes all of the athletes, coaches and organizers at the 2014 North American Indigenous Games the best of luck.
