Bell Media’s MuchFACT Announces Fund Recipients for December Music Committee

Press Release

TORONTO (December 2, 2016) – Bell Media’s MuchFACT (A Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent) announced today the 23 fund recipients from the December 1, 2016 music committee meeting. With 183 applications considered, a total of $452,900 was awarded to Canadian musicians in the following categories: Content Package, Music Video, Online Music Video/Project, and Digital Tools.

MuchFACT continues to encourage the growth of Canadian artists through funding innovative videos. The video for A Tribe Called Red’s new single “The Virus” (feat. Saul Williams), which received a $50,000 video content award from MuchFACT in October 2015, offers socially conscious commentary on the conflict surrounding the Dakota Access Pipeline at Standing Rock in the U.S. Since being uploaded to YouTube on Wednesday, the video, which was produced in collaboration with Bell Media’s newly announced creative hub DAIS, has already been viewed more than 31,000 times.
