Bruce Power selects Worley to support the development of technical requirements for Bruce C new nuclear project

Bruce Power has selected Worley to provide independent support for early-phase technology evaluation as part of its Bruce C Project, which is focused on new nuclear generation to power Ontario’s future.
Bruce C represents an opportunity to add up to 4,800 megawatts of clean, reliable nuclear capacity at the Bruce Power site, supporting Ontario’s growing demand for electricity while reinforcing energy security and economic growth.
Worley will support Bruce Power by leading the development of technology requirements which will inform future evaluation and procurement phases. This work is a key step in ensuring a disciplined, transparent, and technology-neutral approach to assessing potential nuclear technologies.

As part of its scope, Worley will leverage a digitally enabled requirements management tool for the development of the requirements via a data-centric approach. The system will capture key technical and regulatory parameters aligned with utility needs, industry standards, and Canadian codes, supporting a rigorous and consistent evaluation process.

The selection of Worley builds upon Bruce Power’s ongoing work to responsibly evaluate future nuclear development, ensuring a strong foundation for decision-making while advancing planning for the next generation of clean energy infrastructure in Ontario.
Pre-development work for the Bruce C Project, currently undergoing a federal integrated Impact Assessment and Licence to Prepare Site application led by the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC) and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC), includes ongoing readiness activities such as technology selection, workforce and commercial planning, estimating the cost of site preparation activities, developing cooling water strategies, community readiness, and Indigenous engagement in addition to continuing the Impact Assessment (IA) process.
