Press Release
(Kahnawake – 7 Onerahtókha/April 2026)
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) is seeking three (3) individuals to serve on the Kahnawà:ke Cannabis Control Board (KCCB) and two (2) individuals to serve as alternates on the KCCB.
The MCK would like to make it clear that, as stated in a press release on March
25, 2026, the number of cannabis retail dispensary licences is zero; the retail sale of cannabis within the Territory of Kahnawà:ke is prohibited. Due to this public policy, Board members would not be required to oversee dispensaries and would only be asked to manage the cultivation and processing licenses in order to protect and maintain Kahnawà:ke jurisdiction.
The KCCB is responsible for regulating, enforcing, and administering
the Kahnawà:ke Cannabis Control Law and Regulations. Eligibility criteria include the following:
⦁ Must be Kanien’kehá:ka of Kahnawà:ke and be a resident within the Territory.
⦁ Must be at least 21 years of age.
⦁ Must have no criminal conviction for an indictable offense or have received a full pardon for any such conviction.
⦁ Must not have an interest in a private entity that has applied for or has been granted a cannabis-related license.
⦁ Must not have a family member who has an interest in a private entity that has applied for or has been granted a cannabis-related license.
