Celebrating Nunavut Mining — October 13 to 31, 2025

Press Release

Oct 23 2025

Nunavut Mining Week 2025 is being celebrated across the territory through a series of engaging virtual contests and educational activities that highlight the importance of mining to Nunavut’s communities, culture, and economy.

Organized through a partnership between the NWT & Nunavut Chamber of Mines and the Minerals and Petroleum Division of the Government of Nunavut’s Department of Community and Government Services, this year’s Mining Week is proudly supported by Agnico Eagle Mines, B2Gold Corp., and Baffinland Iron Mines Corporation.

The virtual edition complements in-person events held in mid-September, extending the celebration into classrooms, homes, and communities across the territory. Youth and families can take part in online contests such as the Act of Safety Challenge, Carving and Jewelry Showcase, Women in Mining, Scavenger Hunt, Drawing Contest, and the Design Your Dream Rock  activities for younger students.

These activities, hosted under the Mining North Works education and outreach program, aim to inspire learning about geology, safety, craftsmanship, and the role of mining in supporting local economies. Together, they showcase how collaboration between industry, government, and community partners helps build awareness of career and training opportunities in Nunavut’s mining sector.

The Chamber extends its appreciation to Agnico Eagle Mines, B2Gold Corp., and Baffinland Iron Mines Corporation for their ongoing support and partnership in promoting education, safety, and community engagement across the North.
