It was in time for National Indigenous History Month that Orillia city council received a staff report about the feasibility of offering free parking for vehicles with boat trailers for Indigenous and Métis persons from the Georgian Bay region.

However, the staff recommendation was to maintain the status quo; that is collecting $10 an hour to a $50 daily maximum for parking a vehicle with a boat trailer for non-residents and a free parking permit program available to Orillia citizens. The motion was passed at the June 9 council meeting without any questions.
