Equity-Minded Guide brings practical support to everyday decision-making across the Faculty – McMaster University

March 10, 2026

Responding directly to what faculty and staff have identified as a desire for more guidance regarding consistent, equity-informed practice, the Faculty of Health Sciences is launching a new, practical resource designed to strengthen decision-making.

The Equity-Minded Guide (EMG) – developed collaboratively by the Faculty’s Equity and Inclusion (FEI) Office and the Indigenous Health Learning Lodge (IHLL) – is a ready‑to‑use tool that helps faculty, staff, and academic leaders embed equity, inclusion, and Indigenous reconciliation (EDI‑IR) into both everyday choices and long‑term planning.

“Our faculty and staff know that the Faculty has made a commitment to EDI-IR and for that to be realized, EDI-IR principles need to be embedded into everything we do. Understandably folks are in varied places in their EDI-IR journeys, and this guide is one way to help across that varied spectrum. While we know that EDI-IR work is a lifelong journey that requires introspection and reflexivity, it is important to also provide people with practical, evidence-based guidance,” says Saroo Sharda, associate dean, Equity and Inclusion.
