Explore 2026: spring and summer French immersion program now accepting applications

Press Release

February 2, 2026

Are you a Nunavut student interested in learning French this summer while traveling to another part of Canada? Apply now to the Explore Official Languages program to seize this opportunity to travel, learn and grow en français!

Explore is a French immersion program offered in the spring and summer across the country. Sessions are taught at accredited institutions, and students are offered a supportive and encouraging environment, with groups organized according to everyone’s level of French proficiency. The program includes on-campus activities and the chance to discover regional francophone culture off-campus.

Completion of an Explore session grants Nunavut high school students five credits towards graduation. College and university students can also obtain school credit, depending on whether the host institution offers that opportunity and whether the school, college, or university will accept that credit.

Application deadline is February 3, 2026.

Eligibility is open to students aged 13 years and older, as well as post-secondary students. There are no language-skill requirements, and all language levels are welcome.

Accepted candidates will receive a bursary covering tuition fees and other related expenses. For Explore 16+, two bursaries are available for Indigenous youth. Additional financial support is also possible to cover travel costs to and from the destination.

Apply today – it’s free: https://englishfrench.ca/explore/

Explore is an Official Languages program offered by the Council of Education Ministers, Canada (CMEC). It is funded by the Government of Canada funds and supported by the Government of Nunavut.
