Family First Night To Receive Canada 150 Funding

The City of Whitehorse is one of 19 municipalities across Canada to receive support from the Canada 150 Fund. A contribution in the amount of $140,000 has been awarded to enhance the New Year’s Eve Celebration in Whitehorse.

In addition to free daytime activities at the Canada Games Centre, the event will feature Canadian, local, Francophone, Indigenous and ethno cultural artists. Juno award winning artist Classified will be headlining the evening and the event will showcase the following supporting acts: The Dakhká Khwáan Dancers, Soir de Semaine, Speed Control, Usagi Forest, boSo, The Midnight Sons Band, Soda Pony, Major Funk and the Employment.

A fireworks display is scheduled at 21:00 PST to align with the midnight countdown in Canada’s Capital Region and a second fireworks display at midnight, local time. The event will showcase local food vendors, bonfires, a skating loop and much more.
