Family issues plea for answers to find missing 16-year-old Delaine Copenace

The intensive police and community search for missing Kenora teen Delaine Copenace is entering its 11th day. There are few leads and the teen’s family is now issuing a public plea for anyone who may have any information or who may have seen something suspicious to report it.
“This is not like my girl – she wouldn’t have just disappeared on her own,” says Delaine’s mom, Anida Ross. “Every moment she’s gone, that we don’t know anything, we are more afraid. If you know anything, please come forward. I need my baby home.”
“This case should be at the top of everyone’s mind. Delaine’s family needs our help,” says Christy Dzikowicz, Canadian Centre for Child Protection’s Director of Missing Children Services. “This child didn’t just vanish. There is someone out there who knows something, and any information, no matter how small, could be the missing piece police need to bring her home.”
Delaine Copenace was with friends in downtown Kenora, when she was last seen Saturday February 27th around 6:00 p.m. She was wearing black boots, a black jacket, a “Bullet for my Valentine” t-shirt and black jeans with zippered pockets.
Anyone who lives or owns property in Kenora, Lake of the Woods and surrounding areas can help:
- Check personal property, yards, around property and outbuildings
- If you find anything suspicious, immediately call local police or OPP at 1-888-310-1122
- If you can spare time or resources to help in the search, report to the community search headquarters: Knox United Church, 116 Fifth Avenue South, Kenora
