TIMMINS —Two local fire departments fighting a fast-growing wildfire have received extra equipment to help protect their communities.
GlobalMedic, a humanitarian aid group, donated fire skid units to the Mattagami First Nation Volunteer Fire Department and Gogama Fire Rescue as the Timmins 9 wildfire continues to spread.
In an email to TimminsToday, GlobalMedic emergency programs officer Sandor Hamori said the fire skids were handed over to the Gogama and Mattagami fire departments on June 3.
