Alberta’s legal online gambling market is set to launch July 13
A First Nations chief in Alberta says the province isn’t taking enough steps to offset the potential revenue losses casinos may face with the legalization of online gambling.
Alberta’s legal online gambling market is set to launch July 13, after the iGaming Alberta Act was passed last year. The legislation hopes to establish regulatory oversight for online gambling sites.
Two per cent of the market’s gross revenue is expected to go to First Nations groups in an attempt to mitigate the impacts of casino revenue losses, said Dale Nally, the minister of Service Alberta.
