First Nations should be project leaders in electricity buildout, says new group – Canada’s National Observer

A new nonprofit group aims to position First Nations as project leaders on new power transmission projects that will be central to Canada’s plans to double its electricity grid capacity by 2050.

The launch of the Indigenous Power Coalition (IPC) comes as the federal government is preparing to release a new national electricity strategy, a blueprint that analysts say will require tens of billions of dollars in new infrastructure.
