FNTC Announces Appointment of William McCue as Deputy Chief Commissioner

The First Nations Tax Commission is pleased to announce the appointment of Commissioner William (Bill) McCue as Deputy Chief Commissioner, effective June 7, 2026, for a term of five years. The appointment of Mr. McCue is through the Governor in Council under the recommendation of the Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations.

Since first being appointed to the Commission in 2007 to represent Ontario, Mr. McCue has provided nearly two decades of valued service as a trusted leader and committed advocate for economic self-sufficiency among First Nations. Mr. McCue is also Chair of the Commission’s Audit and Human Resource Committee, a position he has held since 2007.

In addition to his role at the FNTC, Mr. McCue is Chairman of the Ogemawahj Tribal Council’s Economic Development Board, member of the Finance Committee for the First Nations Lands Advisory Board. Mr. McCue is the former Chief and current Councillor of the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation.
