Fort McKay First Nation and Noralta Lodge Venture Named Dene Koe Workforce Lodging & Services

Fort McKay First Nation and Noralta Lodge are proud to announce the name of their new venture: Dene Koe Workforce Lodging & Services.

Dene Koe, pronounced “Den-ay Kuh-way” is the Dene term meaning people’s home, or village, which reflects the mission of the new venture as providing a home for those working in and visiting the region.

“It was important to us that the name represent the roots of the Fort McKay people. We are proud to honour our partners’ community and we will strive to create the same sense of home for the guests Dene Koe serves as we always have at Noralta Lodge.” said Corey Smith, president and CEO of Noralta Lodge.

“Having our nation’s culture reflected in the company serves as a reminder that yes, we are a First Nations community and that we are also a forward thinking business minded community. We are excited about this partnership and look forward to welcoming customers to Dene Koe” Chief Jim Boucher, Fort McKay First Nation.

Dene Koe provides open lodging service for oilsands workers at Noralta Lodge’s existing Fort McMurray

Village, a property offering 3500 rooms north of Fort McMurray. Dene Koe will also be providing facilities management services to oil producers in the region, which involves managing the operations of producer-owned workforce lodging facilities, as well as other related services such as workforce transportation within the region.
