FIRST DAY OF SUMMER BRINGS… WINTER??

It just might be the coolest – and coldest – photo shoot ever done by a Canadian rock band! Dubbed “Northern Men,” a play on Midnight Shine’s song Northern Man, the photo shoot took place in Moose Factory ON (home of Midnight Shine’s bass player Stan Louttit) in the dead of winter, and released on the first day of summer. It offers a very cool glimpse into Canada’s North – shot by a Northern photographer, of Northern musicians, in their Northern homelands, in the North’s most significant season. It doesn’t get much more Canadian than that!

SISTER LOVE: VIDEO RELEASED

Midnight Shine released a beautiful new single called Sister Love that has been making inroads on rock and community radio since March. Adrian co-wrote the song with his sister Iris, and it holds special meaning for him: “It’s about trying to free yourself from the burdens and struggles we sometimes have to carry. Some of us get stuck in a hard place, and when we do, it would be nice to go back to those days when life was simpler. In our thoughts we can go there, and be in that place again, even just for a brief moment.”

Digital Drum was at Jukasa Recording Studios with Midnight Shine when they recorded the song back in September, and recently released this video: http://digitaldrum.ca/watch-midnight-shine-sister-love/

ABOUT MIDNIGHT SHINE

Midnight Shine is a one-of-a-kind band, with a one-of-a-kind story. They are an important band, too, with respect to Canada’s current social climate. And their career is on a very good trajectory, so things are shining all around.

Not many bands play their very first show opening for legendary Canadian rockers like Trooper. Then again, not many bands are quite like Midnight Shine. The Northern Ontario foursome is turning heads with a sound that seamlessly mixes roots, classic and modern rock. Anchored by the melodic vocals and eloquent lyrics of singer/songwriter Adrian Sutherland from Attawapiskat ON, their music is not only radio-friendly, but also explores Cree culture, tradition and life in the North with depth and meaning. They’re a must-see band you’ll take a real shine to. “One foot in the past, one in the here and now, on this sacred ground, I am a Northern Man…” www.midnightshineonline.com

SELECT MEDIA COVERAGE

Midnight Shine’s visit to Canadian Music Week in 2016 created a massive media buzz resulting in 165+ stories – including a sit-down interview with Wendy Mesley for CBC’s The National, front page of the Toronto Star’s entertainment section, live performance and interview on CTV’s Canada AM, Canadian Press, Daily Vice, National Post, Metro News Canada, Hamilton Spectator, Winnipeg Free Press, Calgary Herald, and many many more. Media outlets from Victoria to Charlottetown picked up their extraordinary story – quite possibly making Midnight Shine the first ever “indie” band to garner nationwide media attention before even setting foot on tour…
