GNWT and UNW Ratify New Collective Agreement

The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) and the Union of Northern Workers (UNW) have ratified a new collective agreement.

Quick Facts:

• The agreement spans three-years – April 2023 to March 2026
• Salary increases of 10.5% over three years (6% effective April 1, 2023; 2.25% effective April 1, 2024; 2.25% effective April 2025)
• Recruitment and retention improvements for health care professionals under Appendix A10.
• Four (4) days of paid Cultural Leave for Indigenous employees effective the date of ratification.

Employees will see salary increases on their pay cheques in November 2024 and retroactive payments will be actioned in December 2024.

Labour Market Supplements are expected to be processed in December 2024.
