GNWT and UNW Reach Agreement in Principle

The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) and the Union of Northern Workers (UNW) have reached an agreement in principle.  Both parties will be recommending ratification of the agreement – the UNW to their membership and GNWT to the Financial Management Board.

Quick Facts:

• The GNWT and UNW agreed pre-mediation to a three-year agreement spanning April 2023 to March 2026
• Salary increases of 10.5% over three years (6% effective April 1, 2023; 2.25% effective April 1, 2024; 2.25% effective April 2025)
• Recruitment and retention improvements for health care professionals
• Cultural Leave for Indigenous employees
