Students say lack of transportation for recyclables is a major barrier
Two Grade 7 students at the Mamawmatawa Holistic Education Centre in Constance Lake First Nation are working to bring recycling back to their school — but they say a lack of transportation is standing in the way.
Veda Nair and Latavia Douglas said all waste at the school goes into the garbage at the moment.
“We realized that our school doesn’t recycle and how bad it is for the environment,” Nair said. “So we wanted to start a recycling program.”
