High Bar First Nation signs agreement with the province to review mining activity within its territory – CFJC Today Kamloops

CLINTON, B.C. — A First Nation north of the Village of Clinton and the B.C. government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to review mining activity in the area.

On Sept. 10, Llenllenéy’ten (High Bar) First Nation says its Kúkpi7 and council met with senior leadership at B.C.’s Ministry of Mining and Critical Minerals to lay the foundation for long-term cooperation, reinforcing shared commitments to environmental protection, community well-being and responsible resource development.

In a news release issued Wednesday (Oct. 8), High Bar First Nation says the MOU creates a dedicated joint working group between itself and the ministry, allowing them to pursue solutions that align economic development with sustainability and Secwepemc cultural values.
