Indigenous Awareness Weeks: a time of celebration and reflection – McGill Reporter

Niigaan Sinclair will deliver the keynote at this year’s event, which coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Final Report

Sept. 19 to 30, the Office of Indigenous Initiatives will host Indigenous Awareness Weeks (IAW), McGill’s annual celebration of First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities and cultures.

This year’s theme is Truth and Reconciliation, recognizing the 10th anniversary of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC) Final Report, which documents the history and lasting impacts of the Canadian residential school system.
