Indigenous leaders from around the world are in New York at the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, or UNPFII.
The UNPFII is the largest convening of Indigenous peoples globally where advocates will talk about issues ranging from climate disasters to the effects of critical mineral mining in Indigenous communities.
Along with the climate crisis, the week is full of meetings and speeches to discuss day to day challenges including implementing the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, or UNDRIP.
