The Kenora Forestry industry has been struggling for quite a while with not only the restarting of Kenora Forest Products, but to use wood that is located on First Nations land.
The province says they’re encouraging Kenora Forest Products to work with First Nations, in order to obtain wood rights. Scott Cavan from the ministry of aboriginal affairs says they’re seeking to identify wood supplies in local and neighbouring forests, in order to support a restart at the sawmill. The operation’s been closed since 2008.
