“Thank-you, Your Worship, for your leadership and dedication to the community of Baker Lake during your time as mayor.
“Your Worship Aksawnee was mayor during the lead-up and opening of Kivalliq’s Meadowbank mine and played a pivotal role in establishing AEM within the Kivalliq region. The community of Baker Lake and the Kivalliq region will miss him.”

Seal skin cleaning & kamik-making workshop

*Language of instruction will be Inuktitut*
For Inuit women of all ages, we welcome and encourage you to apply to take the Kamik Making Workshop. We are looking for committed and dedicated individuals that will take the time to complete the kamik project. This workshop will be 3-4 weeks long and will be held during the day.
Monday – Friday 1:00pm – 5:00pm.

PARTICIPANTS MUST PROVIDE THEIR OWN SEAL SKIN & MATERIALS (RAW OR DRIED). All applicants are required to fill out an application form to take this workshop, only successful applicants will be notified in writing.
