CityWest and the Lax Kw’alaams Band are thrilled to announce that SmartTown community wide Wi-Fi is now available in Lax Kw’alaams! Starting today, this cutting-edge service is available as part of a community-wide trial, available to all CityWest customers of Lax Kw’alaams at no cost.

SmartTown transforms the entire community into one secure Wi-Fi zone, giving you the freedom to stay connected as you move throughout Lax Kw’alaams. It builds on the technology we’ve already invested in locally, unlocking more value for everyone.

With SmartTown, the fast, reliable Wi-Fi you enjoy at home now follows you wherever you go. Once you join the SmartTown community and onboard your devices, they’ll automatically connect to secure SmartTown Wi-Fi across Lax Kw’alaams.

CityWest will email customers in Lax Kw’alaams with simple steps to get set up and start enjoying the service. Most customers received e-mails last week with instructions, and we’re working to get these onboarding e-mails sent out to the remaining customers in Lax Kw’alaams.

This launch marks the beginning of a trial phase, giving every customer early access. Your experience and feedback will help us refine SmartTown as we prepare for its full official launch later in 2026.

The Lax Kw’alaams Band has partnered with CityWest to deliver services in the community. This partnership ensures that a portion of profits from all CityWest services goes directly back into local infrastructure upgrades and community projects.
