Lexéy̓em: Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc and the Tk̓emlúps RCMP Detachment Sign Letter of Expectations (LOE)

Press Release

November 27, 2025

TteS working in collaboration with our local RCMP have signed a letter of expectations identifying five priority areas which include:

  1. Mental Health and Substance Use
  2. Youth
  3. Elders
  4. Community Relations and Visibility
  5. Traffic & Bylaw Enforcement/Education.

Each one of the 5 priority areas further identify areas of focus. Some examples are:

  • Supporting the establishment of a TteS Crisis Response Team
  • Encourage youth to participate in the Kamloops City RCMP Youth Academy
  • Provide workshops/education for Elders regarding crime prevention and safety initiatives
  • Host a bi-annual “meet and greet” with police and TteS Membership
  • Work with TteS on bylaw enforcement initiatives

TteS would like to acknowledge CPL Darwin Robbins for his ongoing leadership and support in working with myself, Tk̓wenem7íple7 Vicki Manuel in assessing the past LOE, making recommendations to the various focus areas and getting the document to the finish line. In addition, I would like to thank Supt Jeff Pelley, Sgt Del Bryron and Sgt Darren Durnin for their participation and input.

Most importantly, I would like to thank membership, Kúkwpi7, Tkwenk̓wenem7íple7, managers and staff for their input into this important document. This document was built on stats, community input and a lot of discussions.

Council looks forward to setting the date for the first Meet and greet between TteS membership and our RCMP in early Spring 2026 to share a meal, share some stories and just get to know who is supporting our community in safety.

In the Spirit of fostering positive working relationships, collaboration and community safety.
