Manitoba Government Announces Public Safety Investments in Parkland Region

Press Release

January 15, 2026

The Manitoba government is announcing public safety investments in the Parkland region and marking a significant milestone with the official grand opening of the newly renovated Dauphin Courthouse, Justice Minister Matt Wiebe announced today.

“Public safety is one of our government’s top priorities and we are committed to making life safer for Manitobans in every corner of the province,” said Wiebe. “We are proud to reinvest the proceeds of crime into local initiatives that enhance community safety, while celebrating the opening of a modernized courthouse that will serve the Parkland region for years to come.”

Through the 2025-26 Criminal Property Forfeiture (CPF) Fund, the Manitoba government is providing more than $33,000 in grants to support law enforcement and crime prevention initiatives in the Parkland region, including:

  • $13,800 to RCMP in Ste. Rose du Lac for the purchase of safer crates to transport police dogs;
  • $18,500 to RCMP in Ste. Rose du Lac for a pilot project to purchase 10 ceremonial dress uniforms for the Ebb and Flow First Nation Safety Officer (FNSO) program; and
  • $1,350 to RCMP Community and Indigenous Policing in Winnipegosis for the Little Muddy Waters Métis Local to host a police academy for older adults.

The ceremonial dress uniform initiative in Ebb and Flow First Nation is the first of its kind among FNSO programs in Manitoba, the minister noted.

The Manitoba government also announced $35,000 for the Parkland Crisis Centre and Women’s Shelter through the Manitoba Justice Victim Services branch, further supporting vulnerable Manitobans in the region.

The grand opening of the Dauphin Courthouse represents a major investment in Manitoba’s justice system. The renovated facility will provide improved access to justice services, modernized courtrooms and enhanced security features for Parkland region residents.

“Today marks an important step forward for the Parkland region,” said Agriculture Minister Ron Kostyhsyn. “Whether it’s the Dauphin Court House renovations, the new Justice Centre in Dauphin or the Ste. Rose and Parkland frontline safety initiatives, I am proud that our government is strengthening the justice system where Manitobans live and work. These supports—from innovative community‑led programs to improved court facilities—reflect our commitment to safer communities, meaningful partnerships, and a justice system that serves people with dignity and fairness.”
