Tuesday May 10, 2016- Matachewan First Nation Chief and Council will meet a challenge issued by Chief and Council of Mattagami First Nation by donating to assist with relief effors for those affected by the devastating forest fire in Northern Alberta.
Matachewan First Nation will also stand with all of our brothers and sisters to the west, who have reached out with generous offers of support.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Fort McMurray and to everyone who have been displaced or otherwise affected by this devastating fire and to those who fight tirelessly to support the people and service responders who fight these fires. We want you to know that we are thinking of you and your families and that we honor your courage and strength in this very emotional time in your lives.
Matachewan First Nation has donated $5000 to the Canadian Red Cross to assist with relief efforts and has issued a challenge to other First Nations organizations to match their contribution.
