MKO Mourns the Loss of Nadia Flett-Carriere

Press Release

May 4, 2025

Treaty One Territory, Winnipeg, MB – Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak (MKO) expresses its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and community of Nadia Flett-Carriere, a young woman whose life was tragically cut short in a devastating act of violence.

Nadia, a member of God’s Lake First Nation, was a beloved daughter, sister, auntie and friend. Her passing is a heartbreaking reminder of the urgent need to address intimate partner violence and ensure the safety and well-being of Indigenous women, girls, and gender-diverse people.

MKO stands in solidarity with Nadia’s loved ones during this difficult time. We call upon all levels of government to strengthen protections, increase resources for survivors, and take meaningful action to prevent further tragedies.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Nadia’s family and all those mourning her loss.

We encourage anyone in need of support to reach out to crisis services and community organizations dedicated to assisting those affected by violence.
