The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) is proud to extend congratulations to Jonathan Hesler on receiving the King Charles III Coronation Medal. This well-deserved recognition honours Jonathan’s exceptional commitment to community service, leadership, and volunteerism—values that lie at the heart of Métis culture.
Jonathan has served in many roles dedicated to public service. As an Aide-de-Camp to two Lieutenant Governors of Ontario, including The Honourable Edith Dumont, he has played a key role in maintaining protocol, supporting official engagements, and ensuring honourees feel valued for their contributions to society.
Jonathan has always demonstrated an unwavering commitment to giving back to his community. At just 18 years old, he received the Ontario Medal for Young Volunteers, recognizing his commitment to volunteerism and community service.
“Being an AdeC (Aide-de-Camp) allows me to give back in a unique and meaningful way,” said Hesler. “Helping to celebrate and uplift those who are making a tangible impact across Ontario. This role is especially significant to me as a Métis person because it allows me to continue serving my community and contributing to a broader vision of reconciliation and respect”
This passion has continued to shape his professional and personal journey. Today, as a Superintendent for Peel Regional Paramedic Services, Jonathan supports first responders, ensuring they have the resources, leadership, and advocacy needed to serve their communities effectively.
Outside of his professional work, Jonathan remains deeply engaged in the Métis community. As Treasurer of the Clear Waters Métis Council in the South Western Ontario Region, he advocates for Métis citizens, promotes collaboration, and helps strengthen community connections. His pursuit of a Master of Arts in Leadership at Royal Roads University reflects his dedication to lifelong learning and service-driven leadership.
Receiving the King Charles III Coronation Medal is a remarkable honour, and the MNO recognizes the dedication and hard work that led to this achievement. Jonathan’s story is an inspiring example of the Métis values of resilience, respect, and mutual support in action.
