N.B. teachers hope tiny home will fill big void in First Nation community – CTV

Shop teachers in New Brunswick are hoping a tiny home will fill a big void in a First Nation community.

The teachers have contributed 1,100 hours and thousands of dollars in donated materials in an effort to show their students anything is possible – even building a tiny house in a parking lot.

Tiny homes have become a popular phenomenon, but this home’s final destination is what sets it apart. The Department of Education wanted the home to go to someone in need.

“A lot of First Nations communities have to wait on funding for housing, and so you have sometimes more people in a house than the bedrooms permit sort of thing, so we have maybe five people living in a two-bedroom house,” says Sacha DeWolfe of the New Brunswick Department of Education’s Office of First Nations Education.
