Pilot program aims to encourage fluency among Indigenous language speakers
A veteran Indigenous language developer says the newly-announced interpreter training program by the Northwest Territories government will equip speakers for advanced roles.
Elizabeth (Sabet) Biscaye said allowing Indigenous languages to be heard will go a “long way to instilling pride.”
“More importantly, I think, it makes sure that information is available in the language for those who want it in the language,” she said.
