Nalunaiqsijiit Inuit Cruise Ship Training Initiative

The Government of Nunavut is now accepting applications for the new Nalunaiqsijiit Cruise Ship Training Initiative. This program is specifically designed for Inuit interested in pursuing a career in the expedition cruise ship industry.

Nalunaiqsijiit, offered through the Department of Community Services, will provide training courses in Iqaluit in November, 2025. Successful candidates will also be invited to participate in a summer internship onboard a vessel. Graduates will receive the qualifications and certifications required to work as expedition cruise staff.

Applications for Nalunaiqsijiit are now open. There are limited spots, and shortlisted candidates must go through an interview.

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • be a Nunavut Inuk
  • be at least 18 years of age and
  • have a passport or can obtain a passport.
