The Nishnawbe Aski Nation Spring Chiefs Assembly has been confirmed for May 17, 18, 19 2016 in the traditional territory of Mattagami First Nation at the Days Inn, Timmins.
Confirmations/Registration
Chiefs/Proxies are asked to complete the attached registration form to confirm his/her attendance and forward to the attention of Jackie Shewaybick via email jshewaybick@nan.on.ca or by fax (807) 623-7730.
Proxies
If you are unable to attend, a proxy may be sent. Proxy notice must be sent in advance on letterhead and signed by the Chief and Council or a quorum of the Council. This letter will ensure that the proxy has full conference privileges to act on your behalf. The designated proxy should bring the original letter to the meeting. A sample proxy letter is attached.

Travel Arrangements
Travel will be covered for the attending Chiefs/Proxies. Travel days are Monday May 16, 2016 and Friday May 20, 2016. Air travel will be booked by NAN staff or for the use of a personal vehicle, mileage will be covered and based on the NAN rate per km. As required by NAN Chiefs Finance Committee, the most economical arrangements will be made to keep the overall costs to a minimum.
Accommodations
Accommodations for Chiefs/Proxies, Elders, and guests of NAN will be booked by NAN Staff at the Days Inn.
Elders, Womens and Youth Councils
The Nishnawbe Aski Nation Eider’s, Women’s and Youth Councils are invited to attend and NAN will cover their travel expenses and accommodations. First Nations and Tribal Councils bringing additional Delegates are responsible for all expenses incurred including travel, accommodations, and honorarium.

Resolutions – Deadline: Friday May 6, 2016
Resolutions to be considered at the Assembly can be forwarded electronically to Luke Hunter at lhunter@nan.on.ca or via fax at (807) 623-7730.
Open Call to Chiefs for Agenda Items – Deadline: Friday April 29, 2016
This is a formal call for agenda items from the Chiefs of Nishnawbe Aski Nation. The Spring Chiefs Assembly Draft Agenda is tentatively scheduled to be distributed on April 15, 2016 for reference. If there are any priority issues or items that you wish to discuss at the Spring Chiefs Assembly, please contact Melinda Meekis via email mmeekis@nan.on.ca her direct line (807) 625-4938 or by calling NAN toll-free (800)465-9952 by Friday, April 29, 2016. Portions of the meeting may be held In-Camera.
Resolution Updates
A draft NAN Resolution Update will be electronically distributed to the Chiefs via email May 6, 2016. A hard copy final edition and USB will be available at registration.
