The Office of Indigenous Initiatives invites you to join us to view a series of 5 webinars, each 50 minutes in length, hosted by the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation, during the week leading up to National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

An immersive experience to UN-learn the myths of colonial history in Canada.

Monday, September 22nd Topic: Surviving the Residential School System

This event will include discussions about the impacts of colonization, residential schools, systemic racism, and intergenerational trauma. These topics may be distressing or triggering for Survivors, families, and Indigenous community members, and may also be upsetting for non-Indigenous participants as we reflect on the truths of our shared history.

We encourage you to care for your wellbeing in whatever way feels right — whether that means taking breaks, stepping outside, or reaching out to available support resources.

Some resources available are:

• The National Indian Residential School Crisis Line can be reached 24/7 at 1-866-925-4419 for emotional support and crisis referrals for former Residential School students and their families.
