National Firefighting Competition 2021

Press Release

AFAC President Michelle Vandevord announcing 2021 National Firefighting Competition Winners

AFAC Vice President, Anthony Moore announces the 2021 AFAC National Firefighting Competition Winners

This year, AFAC  hosted a virtual National Firefighting Competition (NFC). This decision was in support of the ongoing fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

To compete, registered teams were required to complete two components — one member of each team had to attend one (1) AFAC/NIFSC-led workshop on how to effectively deliver fire prevention/public education, and (2)  the teams were required to create a public education video based on one of the provided themes.

This year’s winning teams are as follows:

  • 1st PLACE – Service Incendie Mashteuiatsh, Mashteuiatsh, QC – Home escape plan
  • 2nd PLACE – Morin Lake Volunteer Fire Dept, Morin Lake Reserve, SK – Home escape plan
  • 3rd PLACE – Lennox Island Fire Dept. Lennox Island First Nation, Atlantic Canada – Apparatus Safety Inspection
  • HONORABLE MENTION – Nipissing First Nation Fire & Emergency Services, Nipissing First Nation, ON – Fire alarm maintenance

On behalf of all of us at AFAC and the NIFSC, thank you for participating in this year’s competition. You should all be very proud of the work you do. We look forward to next year’s event and we hope that you and your families stay safe.
