Economic participation, cost of living and social services are all part of the Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK) poverty reduction plan for Inuit living on their traditional lands.
The plan, released June 9, focuses on Inuit living in Inuit Nunangat, which includes the Nunavut, the NWT, Nunavik in northern Quebec and Nunatsiavut in northern Labrador.
“For Inuit, living free from poverty means our basic needs are met, our communities are strong and our people are empowered to determine our own futures,” said Natan Obed, president of ITK.
