Press Release
March 10, 2026
The Department of Community Services’ emergency management division is advising Nunavummiut that a test of the National Alert Ready System will take place on March 11, 2026.
The test will take place at 2:00 p.m. EDT, 1:00 p.m. CDT and 12:00 p.m. MDT via cellular devices, television and radio. The test alert message will read:
“This is a test of the National public alerting system / Nunavut alerting system issued by Nunavut Emergency Management. This is only a test. If this had been an actual emergency or threat, you would now hear instructions that would assist you to protect you and your family.”
The test message will last approximately 30 seconds.
Nunavut emergency management continues to work in partnership with the Nunavut Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) as primary users of the system to support public safety across the territory. Regular testing helps ensure the system functions properly and that emergency messaging tools remain reliable.
