Northern brings a convenient and accessible health option to Arviat, NU

Winnipeg, April 20, 2016 –The North West Company (“North West”) is pleased to announce the Grand Opening of the Northern Pharmacy in Arviat, NU on Thursday, April 21, 2016. Northern invites the community to join the Grand Opening celebration, beginning at 10:00 a.m. local time, which will include a ribbon cutting, light refreshments, and a meet – and – greet with Arviat’s new community pharmacist.

The new modern looking pharmacy is a first in Arviat and builds upon North West’s commitment to provide the best products and services that support health and help our customers live well. Customers will appreciate the convenience of filling their prescriptions locally while they shop and the benefits of adding a pharmacist to the healthcare team in their community.

Northern’s community pharmacist will make it easier for the community of Arviat to manage their health and wellbeing by providing expanded pharmacy services such as:

• One-on-one comprehensive medication review appointments;
• Coaching and advice to assist patients achieve health goals;
• Education on prevention, treatment, and management of heart disease and diabetes.

“Having a pharmacist in the community means we can do more for our customers and their health. It is important that we provide our customer with patient-focused care and access to the types of programs, resources and services needed to help them live well and stay well,” said Laurie Kaminsky, Vice President, Health Products & Services, The North West Company.

Additionally, the pharmacy will provide an expanded assortment of everyday medicine such as, cough and cold medicines, vitamins, supplements, personal care products, and home remedies to help support total health and wellness.

“Being able to consult with the pharmacist in-store will allow our customers to ask questions about the products and receive expert advice on which are safe for them and appropriate for their health goals.” said Kaminsky.

The Northern pharmacy will be open Monday to Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 – 6:00 p.m.
