Nunavik in Figures 2015

Kuujjuaq, Québec, September 15, 2015 – The Kativik Regional Government (KRG), the Nunivaat – Nunavik Statistics Program and Université Laval announce the release of Nunavik in Figures 2015 – Pocket Edition. The statistical publication contains a summary of the most recent data available for the region on population, language, employment, education, income, prices, dwellings and health care.

Nunavik in Figures 2015 provides a socioeconomic profile of Nunavik and permits comparisons between the region and the rest of Québec. The pocket version is available in Inuktitut, English and French) and may be downloaded at www.nunivaat.org. The full version is also available online and contains detailed information, including 116 tables and 61 charts plus references to sources and methods.

Based on a long history of cooperation between the KRG and Université Laval, the Nunivaat – Nunavik Statistics Program was established in 2005 as a permanent, public and independent statistics program on the socioeconomic situation of Nunavik. Nunivaat is directed by Université Laval with the financial support of the KRG and the Louis-Edmond-Hamelin Chair for Nordic Social Sciences Research. Up-to-date data on the region is vital to make informed decisions in all areas of public policy. Nunivaat operates a database (including a variety of statistics on the region and its residents accessible at www.nunivaat.org) and carries out research (including the publishing of the Nunivaat – Nunavik Statistical Bulletin and the implementation of special projects such as the Nunavik Comparative Price Index 2011 and Consumer Prices Monitoring in Nunavik 2011‑2013).
