Ochapowace Nation, Treaty Four Territory Proudly Hosts North American Indigenous Peoples Caucus Meeting

Press Release

On March 22-24, 2016, Ochapowace Nation will proudly host the North American Indigenous Peoples Caucus (NAIPC) Meeting at the Chief Denton George Memorial Multiplex.

The NAIPC meeting will bring together Indigenous peoples from across Canada and the United States to discuss current issues and challenges faced by our peoples.  The decisions and recommendations made at the NAIPC meeting will be advanced to the upcoming international United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Peoples (UNPFII) Meeting at the United Nations, New York in May 2016.  The meeting also offers a time for us to discuss other key issues affecting our peoples at the provincial and national level.

The event is open to our elders, adults and young people, who wish to participate and/or gain awareness on the issues being discussed during the three days.  The agenda will be posted.

We look forward to extending our fine hospitality to our visitors, who travel to Ochapowace to attend the meetings.  Also, in sharing our traditions and customary practices with our visitors, a feast and giveaway will be held on Wednesday, March 23rd at 5:00pm at the Chief Denton George Memorial Multiplex.  Everyone is welcome!

Our past, present and future involvement at the United Nations level ensures that standards of fairness, equality, recognition, fulfillment and implementation of our Peoples rights by all stakeholders.
