OFNYPC Celebrates 50 Years of Little NHL and Sends Greetings to Youth and Families

Toronto, Ontario (Monday, March 11, 2024) — On behalf of the Ontario First Nations Young Peoples Council (OFNYPC), Youth Representatives Tehya Quachegan (Nishnawbe Aski Nation), Kieran Davis (Grand Council Treaty #3), Katelyn Peters and Pierre Debassige (Anishinabek Nation) extend their best wishes to all participants of the 50th Little Native Hockey League (Little NHL) tournament in Markham, Ontario.

“Celebrating its 50th year, the Little NHL continues to be an important event for nurturing self-esteem, sportsmanship, and unity among First Nations youth in Ontario. This year’s theme, “Honouring Our Water,” calls attention to the vital importance of water stewardship and protection.”

“We commend the 10,000 players, families, and community members gathered for this milestone event. Your presence embodies the resilience and spirit of our communities. We also honour the founders of the Little NHL, whose vision has created a lasting legacy of cultural celebration and sporting excellence.”
